Church Parts
I just was playing around with creating parts of a church. Haven’t finished.

Finished my design for a new entrance for the Children’s Department at the library. A little fantasy and tiny touches, such as a slightly over-size door, fanciful handle to acommodate different heights, and the “Please have your passport ready” at child-eye level to help create the sense of adventure reading provides. The oversize books also add to the fantasy feel. And the mural of a young girl who’s hair becomes birds show the freedom of imagination. The lighting is bright through the tree to cast dappled sunlight and soft below to feel like a forest floor. The school-house lights at the different levels carry the academic into the fantasy. There is no ceiling to this space as it is mearly a divider. The tree continues into the main reading room and above the walls of the entrance.
Here’s a slightly different view. Another day, and a couple additions.
As an afterthought, I put the camera in the Greenhouse looking out over the lake. I think it is a nice place to read and drink your tea on a chilly fall day.
Here we are at the last of our trip around the house I designed in college. As you can see we are out behind the garage. The best place for the trash cans. You can see just a hint of the van inside. It’s been an interesting project. I hope you agree.
Moving around the house, we come to the back which faces the lake. The stone patio and stained glass greenhouse are the feature here. Who wouldn’t want to sit there and have drinks while looking out over the lake in the evening? I thought the bees would be a fun touch. I like adding a few little touches of humor if I can.
